Dear McGill Families of 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grades,
I am writing to inform you that we will be starting our CAASPP testing next week, Monday, May 4, 2026, through Thursday, May 28, 2026. If your child misses a test day, they will have the opportunity to make up the test the week of May 26, 2026, through May 28, 2026. If your child does not arrive before 8:45 am on the testing dates, they will be asked to stay in a designated area from 9 am to 11 am with an adult supervisor.
Every year, California students take several statewide tests. When combined with other measures such as grades, class work, and teacher observations, these tests give families and teachers a more complete picture of their child’s learning. You can use the results to identify where your child is doing well and where they might need more support. However, these results do not affect their report card grades or promotion to the next grade level.
Your child may be taking one or more of the following California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP), ELA, MATH, and SCIENCE. Pursuant to California Education Code Section 60615, parents/guardians may annually submit to the school a written request to excuse their child from any or all of the CAASPP assessments.
In order to ensure that every student is ready to have a great testing session, we recommend that:
They get a good night’s rest.
Set an alarm clock so that they wake up early and arrive at school on time.
They eat a nutritious breakfast and bring an extra water bottle. (We will provide snacks)
As parents, encourage them to do their best and remind them that these tests do not determine whether they go to the next grade level.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at dterry@mcgillschoolofsuccess.org or 619-629-0770.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Delia Terry
Interim Principal/CEO
