Student Dress Code

McGill School of Success has adopted a school dress code because we believe an appropriate standard of dress is conducive to a successful and safe academic environment. Parent feedback confirms that most parents want a dress code. Therefore, students will be required to wear the following uniforms:
School colors are Navy Blue and White
SHIRTS
Polo Shirts -white/ navy blue, long or short sleeve.
Oxford Shirt - white/ navy blue, long or short sleeve.
Only one plain white or blue undershirt or turtleneck may be worn under the uniform shirt.
No undergarments, midriff, or lower back are to be visible at any time.
PANTS/SHORTS
Uniform pants and shorts must be navy blue (No Jeans)
Pants that are excessively tight, baggy, dirty, or sloppy are not allowed.
Shorts must be no higher than four (4) inches above the knee and no longer than one (1) inch below the knee.
Students may only wear a plain brown or black belt with pants or shorts of appropriate size to fit within the belt loops. No oversized buckles for belts with logos are allowed.
SKIRTS, SKORTS, and JUMPERS
Skirts, skorts, and jumpers must be navy blue or (No Jeans).
Skirt, skort, and jumper lengths are to be no more than four (4) inches above the knee.
No undergarments should be visible at any time. Navy blue or black "bike" shorts should be worn under skirts or jumpers.
OUTERWEAR
All sweaters, jackets, and other outerwear must be white, navy blue, or black
The following are not acceptable at school:
Modification of uniforms (i.e., pinning, rolling, knotting, etc.)
Clothing or accessories that are gang-related in any way (i.e., bandanas, caps, belts, key chains)
Clothing with inappropriate language or pictures
Clothing promoting violence, drugs, tobacco, or alcohol
Wearing cosmetics, artificial nails, or excessive jewelry
Wearing sunglasses or hats indoors
Roller skate shoes with wheels
SHOES
Tennis Shoes - Black, White
Mary Janes Flats - Black, Brown, or White
Closed Toe Shoes
No sandals, no open toe shoes, no light up shoes, no character shoes, no shoes with wheels, No Crocs or colorful shoes allowed
FREE DRESS
On occasions, students will be provided Free Dress or Spirit Days to help reward students for good behavior, attendance, or honor a special school activity. The following is the set guidelines students must follow when NOT wearing a school uniform:
Shirts cannot be inappropriate or offensive. This includes, but is not limited to the following: gang, alcohol, or drug references/logos/images
Wear appropriate shirts that are not revealing, see-through, and don’t show your midriff. Shirts cannot be low-cut.
Your shirts must have sleeves so don’t wear any tank or halter tops. Undergarments may not show.
Make sure your pants are the appropriate length, aren’t baggy and aren’t skintight.
No pajamas, unless they are a designated Spirit Day attire.
Jeans may not have ANY rips or tears in them.
Shoes must be closed toed shoes. No sandals or house shoes/slippers or Crocs.
Students who are inappropriately dressed are to be sent to the office. Parents will be called and asked to provide the student with a change of clothing. In the event the parent is unable to provide clothing, the student will be given substitute clothing to change into and will be required to return them at the end of the school day.
