I want to make sure my students have the materials and experiences they need to succeed, so I just created two requests on DonorsChoose:
MORE Books, In Their Hands! Every one of these books will go directly into the hands of my students. As a reading intervention teacher, I work with students one-on-one to help them reach grade-level expectations in reading. I know from my teaching experience that students gain confidence and pride in carrying around a chapter book they can decode with current reading skills. Previous Donors Choose projects which enabled me to purchase books have proven this.
It's the simple things, such as including a list of words with the focus phonics pattern written in a different color marker. So simple, yet so effective.
